Demonstration: Portrait in Graphite no. 2 (6)
I render the hair. I discover a setback that I must address even though I’m deep into the rendering process of this portrait

The portrait is moving along just fine. I render the forehead and cheeks.
Here, I finish initial rendering of the all important triangle of the face, getting in the focal point of the portrait.
I begin to move across the face, slowly building tone in continuous shade in this drawing.
Rendering begins for this drawing. I describe my process for continuous shading and shade the region of the eyes in this post.
A new graphite drawing begins. Here, I lay in the line drawing for what I intend to be a realistically shaded portrait.
I bring this drawing to a close, shading out the clothing and putting on finishing touches.
Moving across the face, and into the hair, I cover most of the focal point, the head and face, with shading.
Shading begins. I shade the right side of the model’s face in crosshatches.
In this post, I lay in the drawing for the first graphite drawing I will do for my site. I describe my process, walking you through my steps.
